I would like to thank my Apprentice Golf Professional, Keith Kulwicki, for his help this season & wish him the best as he moves to Florida to continue to pursue his growth in the golf industry.  Keith has accepted a position on the staff at Sanctuary Golf Club & will work this "off-season" in the great sunshine state.  I look forward to watching Keith move through the PGA of America & believe that he will become a solid PGA Professional in the near future.  Best of Luck!

Today is the day that I playing 100 holes of golf at Oxmoor CC to raise money for two great charities, The American Cancer Society & The Kentucky Golf Foundation.

OLGA Points Championship

I would like to thank those who competed in this past weekend's Points Championship & congratulate Ann Edwards for her solid play earning both the Overall Champion & the Points Medalist for the year!  Ann posted a net score of 71 to win by 2 strokes over Joyce Recktenwald & earned just enough points to overtake the season ending point leader, Patti Noe, as well as edge out Kay Larmee by just 5 points for the season ending point lead. Again, on behalf of the OLGA Committee & the PGA Professional Staff, thank you for your support of the play days, guest days, weekend tournaments & golf operations at your Club!

OMGA Fall Calcutta

Friday - Drawing Party 5:30 PM on Clubhouse Veranda

Sat. & Sun. - Shotgun Start 8:30 AM

If you would like to participate in this upcoming weekend's OMGA event then please contact the golf shop now!  Teams will be drawn by captains determined by the majority of players (A/B/C) who attend the drawing party & teams will compete in a Chicago Points Quota format using a stableford scoring system in relation to each individual on the team.  Each team is an automatic buy in for $100 and the Overall Champions & Runner-ups will split the pot as well as win some glassware for the trophy case.

Wed. - 1:00 PM Shotgun. All carts must be in by 12:45 PM & the course will be unavailable for regular member play between the times 1:00-6:00 PM.

Golf Course closure

Just a quick note that Oxmoor CC golf course and practice facilities will be closed today, Sept 11, until further notice due to excessive rain last night.

We will re evaluate the course conditions at noon today and provide an update.

OCC Golf - Sept. 9th

Please Note:

1. If you received some random email with a link from me last week, or anytime for that matter, please disregard. Seems as if my email was infiltrated by the internet pirates & the spam was reported to the higher beings at Google as well as privacy standards updated.

4. Fri., Sept. 12th - We are hosting a member sponsored corporate golf outing beginning at 9:00 AM & the golf course will not be available for regular member play until 1:00 PM that day.  The practice facilities will be open for member use throughout that day.

Patriot Golf Weekend

I would like to again thank the membership for your support of Patriot Golf Weekend & the Folds of Honor Foundation as we raised over $1500!  The Folds of Honor Foundation supports families of fallen heros through financial assistance for families in need as well as scholarships for kids to continue their education. I'm very grateful for the continued support of our membership as we have just shy of $10,000.00 in the four years of associating with Patriot Golf Weekend.  As Major Dan Rooney, founder of the Folds of Honor Foundation & fellow PGA Professional, likes to tweet; God Bless America! #Noapologies

1. Fri., Sept. 12th - Glow Ball Golf - Sign up as a four-person team or couple to be paired for a great evening of golf under the moonlight!  We will have a cocktail party & dinner on the Clubhouse Veranda beginning at 6:30 Pm that evening as well as team skill challenges prior to going out to play glow golf.  The entry fee is $40 per couple/ $80 per team & guest are welcome to participate, please contact the golf shop by Thursday to sign up.

2. Sat., Sept 13th - Extreme Golf - Sign up as a two-person team for this early morning tee time event playing the links of Oxmoor as you never have.  We are formulating the extoic & adventureous routing of the course that morning that teams will compete in a scramble format & see the golf course as they have never seen it before.  Entry fee is $40 per team & includes skins payouts as well as winner awards

3. Sun., Sept 14th - OLGA Points Championship - Sign up in the golf shop for the final OLGA event of the 2014 season that will begin with tee time play at 8:30 AM and feature an 18 hole stroke play competition & determine the Overall Point Medalist for the season.

4. Sat. & Sun., Sept 20th & 21st - OMGA Fall Calcutta - Sign up as an individual in the golf shop for this 3-man team (A/B/C) Chicago Point Quota tournament with teams being paired on Fri., Sept 19th drawing party on the Clubhouse Veranda.  Play will begin both days with an 8:30 AM shotgun start, contact the golf shop if you would like to participate.

2014 PGA Golf Day 100 Holes of Golf charity event

My friends,

I have once again committed to play 100 holes of golf in 1 day on September 18th at Oxmoor Country Club. Playing 1 ball and 1 hole at a time, I will raise money for the Kentucky Golf Foundation and for The American Cancer Society.
Having family members and friends that have battled this terrible disease, this cause is very close to my heart and any help you can provide me in reaching my goal will be greatly appreciated.

Please feel free to join me for a few holes that day, it will be great fun!

9/1/14 Memorial Day Pick Your Pro Game

Thank you to all those who came out and joined us for Memorial Day here at Oxmoor Country Club.  We hope you all had a great day today.  Thanks to those who participated in the Pick Your Pro Game today as well.  The results are as follows:

Low Gross: Anthony Thorton with a 68. Earning $20 in sweeps

Low Net: Bill Roby with a Net 66. Earning $20 in sweeps

1st Place- Anthony Thorton with a net 65 and choosing Adam Scott who shot a 67 today for a total of 132.  Earning $120 in sweeps

2nd Place- Dan Albers with a net 68 and choosing Adam Scott who shot a 67 for a total of 135. Earning $90 in sweeps

3rd Place- Tom Kanngiesser with a net 69 and choosing J.B. Holmes who shot a 67 today for a total of 136.  Earning $70 in sweeps.
