I would like to congratulate all the University of Louisville fans for their big victory over the defending NCAA champions yesterday.  Regardless of which team you rooted for, the game was a great showcase of college basketball & our city, & I believe that the next four months are going to be a fun ride for both school's!  Have a safe & joyous celebration to this year's end & the bright upcoming of 2013!

I would like to begin this email by thanking my PGA Assistant Golf Professional, Lizzy Freemantle, for her service to the membership at Oxmoor Country Club over the last 12 years.  As many of you know, Lizzy has decided to get out of the golf business & pursue other interest, and her last day will be tomorrow morning.  I have been very fortunate to have Lizzy on my staff as she has truly been an integral part of the growth of our Club within the golfing community as well as me professionally.  Lizzy possess the highest standards that any supervisor would like to have on their team & her professionalism, intelligence & dedication to provide a great member experience daily, will be missed.  I'm extremely proud of her many accomplishments that she has made professionally & personally & wish her nothing but success in her future endeavors!  On behalf of everyone at Oxmoor CC, thank you.

With the 2012 golf season coming to a close, the time is now to begin working towards your golfing goals for the upcoming season.  I'm very excited about the upcoming winter fitness program, using the 4 previous years knowledge, offering various times that members can get together to exercise & improve their golf game at the same time. This year will feature the normal morning strength training sessions, a cardio workout session in the evening, & will have featured TPI Certified Trainers making an appearance to help further your knowledge.  Also, all members who participate will have their swings monitored through the off-season as they progress through the fitness program.  If you have any questions or would like to sign up, please contact the golf shop.  Schedule noted below:

Great Shot

Kathy Clemens recorded her first ever hole in one while playing at her home club in Flordia this past weekend.  Kathy hit the perfect shot from 132 yards with a 3 wood into a wind of about 25 knots & got to see the ball fall into the hole!

Golf Shop Hours of Operation

The golf course will be available to play beginning at 9:00 am each day depending on the absence of frost.  The practice facility will be on the mats for the remainder of the off season as we give the dormat grass on our practice tee a rest.  Please look for updates on the mobile app in regards to golf course frost delays or simply contact us prior to coming to the Club.

The winter cart program is back for its 3rd season & is an opportunity to have unlimited cart rental through this off-season.  If you believe in global warming, or you took advantage of this program last season, or you just want to keep playing golf; let a member of the professional staff sign-up for this member appreciation program.

The ringer game is open to all members who have a current handicap & determined to keep playing through the non handicap posting season.  Members will turn in all scorecards & keep a running tally of their best score per hole in relation to par.  Low individuals in both gross & net will be awarded sweeps at the beginning of the 2013 golf season.

Score Posting & Handicap Services

The final day of posting score for the 2012 golf season is Wednesday, October 31st & the last transmission will be on the 1st of November.  If you would like to gain your final handicap card for the year please let us know & we will print for your records.  

OMGA Buddy Buddy Champions

Congratulations to the winning team of Bob Burnette & Bob Penny who defeated Tom Cox & Chris Elsey 3&1 in the championship match.  Mr. Burnette & Mr. Penny were the 1st team to win the overall championship from the bottom flight (Keeneland) in over 5 seasons & truly partnered their way through all their respected matches!

The party is this Friday, October 12^th, 3-6 pm at the back corner of the Fenley Office Suites Parking Lot (4965 U.S. Highway 42). It will be a fun, casual event. OLGA News

I would like to thank all the ladies of Oxmoor who supported the OLGA golf programs for the season as well as those who were present for the end of the year banquet last night.  The ladies had 42 members for the 2012 season & competed in 10 major events, featuring 13 different winners & only 3 repeat winners (Ann Edwards??) proving, that the each field was very equitable throughout the year.  I would also like to thank Mrs. Josette Goulet who has served as the President of the OLGA this past year for her leadership in continuing to grow the women's golf programs at Oxmoor.  She has went from a 9 hole beginner, 18-hole golfing gal & now veteran of the OLGA in just a few years & is an example of how the women's golf programs at OCC thrive.  Finally, I would also like to Liz Welch for accepting the leadership position for the upcoming season & excited for the possibilities.

Please Note:

The front 9 will be closed tomorrow morning for green aerification & unlikely to open until 3:00 PM.  The back 9 will be closed on Friday morning until 3:00 PM for green aerfication.  Also, please note that we will begin fairway aerfication next week & will have hole closures daily as the grounds staff works.  We apologize for any inconvenience that this may incur & look forward to seeing you soon at the Club.

Tuesday Night League Finale

Tonight at 5:30 PM

Sign up for the final Tuesday evening game of the year before 4:00 PM today.  The men will compete in a flighted stroke play event with both the low gross & low net winners being award cash for their respected flights.  The ladies will compete in a 9 hole stroke play tournament awarding the low gross & low net.  The lady with the lowest net score will also receive her name on the 9-hole league champion plaque in the president's hallway so get ready to golf your way into Oxmoor lore.  Please contact the golf shop to sign up.

OMGA Triathlon

Sat., Oct. 6th - 9:00 AM

The final Saturday event of the golf season is now just 2 weeks away!  We currently have 25 members signed up to participate & will begin to have an alternate list when we reach 36 players in order to have equal teams.  The format of the Triathlon will feature a better ball competition on holes #1-6, a total aggregate competition on holes #7-12, & a scramble competition on holes #13-18.  All teams will be randomly drawn using a the A/B pairing method by the USGA tournament program & teams will be awarded in both gross & net divisions.  This is the last chance to gain valuable points for the OMGA Points Championship so make sure that you are signed up to participate!
