OLGA Triathlon

OMGA President's Cup

The President's Cup is the final leg of the OMGA Annual Match Play Championships with participants playing in a flighted handicap match play tournament.  All OMGA members are encouraged to sign up in the golf shop by the registration deadline of July 11th at 12;00 pm.

OMGA Buddy Buddy Matches

Noted are the matches for this weekend's Buddy-Buddy Championship.  We have a total of 35 teams competing for the championship (16 in Churchill Flight & 18 in Keeneland Flight) & guaranteed to have a new championship team as the defending champions are not in the field.  Due to the odd number of teams in the Keeneland Flight there are 3 teams who received a bye & will not have matches on Saturday morning.  Also we will have 5 matches contested on Saturday morning who will not play on Sunday due to the 2^nd round match to be determined.  Please note that after this weekend, it is the responsibility of all players to contact each other & arrange the match to be played prior to the deadline.  We look forward to seeing you this weekend & good luck!

Thursday, June 20th - We are hosting a member sponsored corporate golf outing at 1:00 Pm in which all member play must be off the course.  We will have a 8:00 am start time for members who would like to play that morning.  The practice facility & short game are will be open to the membership while the event is being contested.  Please contact the golf shop for starting reservations.

Ladies Golf Clinic

I would like to encourage any of the female members who would like to learn/improve their golf game to join my PGA Professional Staff & myself this Thursday.  We will cover swing fundamentals as well as introduce putting challenges that will improve your skills.  The cost is just $10 per member & guests are encouraged to join the fun.  Please contact the Golf Shop if you would like to participate.

PGA Championship Volunteers

If you would like to join your fellow members to marshall during the 2014 PGA Championship contested at Valhalla GC next year, please contact the Golf Shop.  I have been in touch with the Championship Volunteer Coordinator & we have opened up to fill our hole (#2) for more than the minimum of 33 volunteers.  We currently have 42 individuals who have committed to do so & if you would like to join please inform a member of my staff so that we may email you the information for registration.

Fathers Day game US Open

Gentlemen,

PLEASE NOTE:

1.  Replace your divots.  It is proven that the turf will recover sooner if as much as the divot is replaced versus filling with sand.

2.  Repair your ball marks.  If you hit a pitch outside 20 yards, its making a ball mark, please look to repair at least yours & another.  If we all do this, it will make our greens better.

3.  Black stakes = back to the cart path.  Our superintendent sets the black stakes to relive cart traffic in certain hot spots or areas that could potentially damage the turf.  Please assist him w/your etiquette while driving carts.

4.  #17 Cart traffic.  Please keep carts on the cart path until the fairway bunker.  After the fairway bunker, carts are permitted to scatter off the path but please do not drive backwards into the fairway/rough prior to the fairway bunker.  Again, your etiquette is greatly appreciated!

OMGA Buddy-Buddy Championship

We currently have 27 teams signed up to participate in next weekend's OMGA event.  If you would like to participate, or need help finding a partner, please let a member of the PGA Professional Staff know & sign up in the golf shop.  The format is a four-ball match play with all strokes allocated off the low-player in each match.  Those who advance through the R! matches, will play the 2nd round on Sunday morning.  All starting times will be set by the PGA Professional Staff & will be played early both Sat. & Sun. off of #1 tee.

Golf Course Availability

Thur. - All member play must be off the golf course by 12:45 pm.  No member play in the afternoon for golf course maintenance.

Fri. - Course will be unavailable for member play all day.

Sat. - Course will open for regular member play beginning at 3:00 pm.

Practice range & short game facility will be open for member usage.

We currently have 46 teams & I would like to extend one last final INVITATION/FAVOR for any member who may want to participate in the premier event of the golf season.  Also, if any members who may be available to play as competitive markers (Fri-8a-4p & Sat.-8a-2p) that would like to participate as either a team or an individual to please let me know prior to tomorrow morning.
