OCC Golf - Nov. 20th

Please Note:
1. Carts MUST stay on the cart path at all times this week.
2. The range is set on the mats.  Please no hitting irons off the turf directly in front or on the back of the tee.

Great Shot!
Congratulations again go to Mr. Rob Young who posted an eagle 3 on #10 with another shot from the fairway!  Rob hit the perfect shot this past week from 110 yards with a wedge & it is confirmed that his wedge is "officially" dialed in.  Congrats!

Golf Course Ownership
I would like to encourage the membership to look to improve your golf course while playing at your Club.  The upcoming months of winter offer many good days to play & challenge both your golf game as well as your mental fortitude against playing in the elements.  During the "off-season" the golf course might not be in the "championship" condition as in the season as the attention of our maintenance staff is on repairing equipment & gauging the frost barometric pressures to allow play to begin.  I'm asking each of you to do your normal good golf etiquette; replace divots, rake bunkers when exiting & repair ball marks when your playing, but I would also request that you look to do more when on the course.  Those members who have a last name beginning A-L are assigned to the Front 9 & those who have a last name beginning M-Z are assigned to the Back 9; responsible for looking to do extra (rake a bunker, fix 3 ball marks or anything to make the course better) while on that particular side.  I truly believe that our membership is one of the best in regards to course etiquette, & by assigning additional responsibilities, our golf course will continue to have that "championship" look for those who are playing our green turf links!  Remember:
F9 - Last Name A-L
B9 - Last Name M-Z

Great Shot!
Speaking of the Winter Ringer Game, congratulations to Mr. Rob Young who hit the perfect shot on the 17th hole for an eagle 3 this past Sunday!  Rob hit a pw from 118 yards out on a perfect line that landed short of the hole & jumped directly into the hole.  He then went on to par the 18th, making for a great finish!

OMGA Points Championship
I would like to thank those who participated in the season ending Points Championship this past weekend & congratulate the Overall Champion, Michael Schmidt, & Overall Net Champion, Trae Joyce, on their fantastic two-day total.  The Overall Championship was not decided after 36 holes, as Nick Gerch & Michael both posted a 5-over par total of 149, & after much deliberation finally went back on to the golf course for a playoff to determine the winner.  Both hit excellent tee shots off the 9th tee box & having to play first, Michael played his 2nd shot within 3' from the hole, & was able to use all of his experience to finally #makeeverything recording a birdie to Nick's par.  In the Net competition it was a 1 horse race as the 2014 President's Cup Champion was able to post an impressive score of 135, 9-under par, and win by 8 strokes over Tom Larkin.  Again, thank you for your support of the golf operations at Oxmoor Country Club!

Sunday, November 9th
Range will CLOSE at 4:30 PM that afternoon as we must clean pick the range for the final mowing of the year.  We will also begin to seed target greens & improve turf conditions on the range & you can expect to see traps covering the greens as we move into the off season.  I would also like to remind everyone to please NOT hit irons off the turf directly in front of the mats.  If you would like to hit irons, please go to the teaching tee box located on the back of the range.

Winter Ringer Game
Nov. 8th - March 1st
The Winter Ringer Challenge is open to all members who have an established handicap & individuals will be awarded on their best gross/net finish in the competition.  The entry fee is $25 & members will turn in their scorecard in pursuit of their best score on each hole.  The final handicap updated at the end of this month will serve as the number for the net division & reduced from your best gross score.  Last year Gross Champion was Kevin Aldred, 56, & Bob Burnette/John Dryden who each posted a net score of 47!  Sign up in the Golf Shop if you would like to participate.
