Patriot Golf Weekend

The Labor Day holiday is an emphasis on everything that is great about living in the united States of America.  The weekend is one in which recognizes the values of our country & the many past Americans that have dedicated their blood, sweat & tears to help shape our great nation.  I'm very excited to host the 3rd Annual Patriot Golf Weekend with the membership of Oxmoor CC as we will again look to collect funds for the Folds of Honor Foundation.  This Foundation was founded by a fellow PGA Member & retired Air Force pilot, Cpt. Dan Rooney, & provides post-secondary educational scholarships for children & spouses of military service men & women killed or disabled while serving our great nation. The past two seasons we have been recognized as an Outstanding performer & then Top Performer in the state & your support is greatly appreciated.  For more information please visit; www.patriotgolfday.com

Notes In Regards To Donations:

1. Members may make checks payable to the Folds of Honor Foundation & drop off in the golf shop.

2. Half of the money from the Sunday & Labor Day skins game will be donated to the Folds of Honor Foundation. 

3. Tuesday, Sept. 3rd - The Club will be OPEN for play that day with tee times beginning at 9:00 AM.  Members who wish to play will have a mandatory green fee of $30 payable by cash/check & cart fees will be applied if applicable.  We will also host the 9-hole league that evening at 6:00 PM featuring a mixer (men & women) together for a mandatory green fee of $20 payable by cash/check. We will use 100% of all green fees money collected that day to be donated to the Folds of Honor Foundation.

Congratulations!

Tom Burdash recorded his 2nd hole in one of his golfing life this past Saturday on the 6th hole. Tom hit the perfect shot with a solid 6-iron from 174 yards that landed 2 feet from the hole & found the bottom of the cup.  His ace was the 9th of the season on our links, leaving only the 16th hole to have yet allowed the perfect shot.  Take dead aim!

On Sale now until Sunday afternoon..... 2013 Kentucky PGA Assistant Golf Professional Championship Tournament Raffle Tickets.

Please help support our own Jamie DeKeuster and the other hardworking Assistant Golf Professionals in the Kentucky PGA Section by buying a $10 raffle ticket. 

EVERY ticket bought is a winner! Each ticket can be redeemed for a "4 golfers for the price of 3" deal at the Donald Ross Course in French Lick, In. 

There will be a drawing this Monday, Aug 19th during the KPGA Assistants Championship tournament at South Park CC to determine the Grand Prize Winner.

I would like to thank those members who have "volunteered" their time to help our golf course superintendent, Mike Coy, & his staff during this past OCC Ownership nights.  This past Monday the lake on the 10th/18th hole was lined out (like #8 & #9) with fishing line to detour the goose population & hopefully continue their migration off our golf course!

The OMGA Calcutta is open to all members of the OMGA & consists of teams counting 1-2-3 best net balls on par 3's, 4's & 5's as well as drawing one par 4 every day in which all four balls of the team must count.  Teams will be awarded the highest place finish in either gross or net scores with trophies & sweeps after completing Round 2.  Sign up in the golf shop.

Fitness Notes:

"Prosanity" Biggest Loser 5-Week Challenge

Over the last 5 years I have offered the membership the opportunity to learn how to incorporate a fitness routine into their lifestyle.  That fitness regime, "prosanity", has always used golf as the big carrot (lower your handicap) but the main purpose is bettering yourself through exercise & those that have completed the program can speak of the results that they have achieved.  I'm excited to get started earlier this season & include more golf! The Biggest Loser 5-week challenge will consist of a weight/handicap loss % for those who want to challenge themselves & we will utilize "prosanity" fitness sessions, power yoga & monitored golf practice sessions.  The member who has the best % at the end of the 5-week challenge will win some great gifts but none as an important as better health & golf!  The fee is just $150 per person & dates noted below:

Here is the game plan for tomorrow morning to complete the 1st round and then play the 2nd round:

All players with holes left to play in the 1st round will be starting at 8:30am from wherever they stopped play today. 

The Ladies Division is going to begin play at 8:00am from #1 tee with the Senior Division following at 8:45am

The Men's & Championship Division will complete play of Rd 1 and then stay in the same pairings and begin play on #1 at 10:00am in the same order as Rd 1 following the Sr Division.

Friday - Tee times begin at noon for the Senior, Men & Open divisions.  Play will consist of 36 hole stroke play, with the top 8 gross score playing on 3rd round on Sunday morning, & each division will be divided into 3 flights awarding the best gross score as well as recognizing the overall net champion from each division.  The ladies will begin play on Saturday morning & complete their final round on Sunday morning determining the overall champion for the year.  Listed below are the names that have signed up to participate in their respected divisions & if you are not on the list & would like to participate then please contact the golf shop by 12:00 PM tomorrow.  We will send out the pairings & starting times by 2:00 pm tomorrow afternoon.

Please note that we are having a double wave of tee times in the morning off of both #1 & #10 tee beginning at 7:30 am.  All member play must be completed prior to 1:30 PM as we are hosting a member sponsored golf outing benefiting Kosair Children's Hospital with over 120 players.  The practice range & short game facility will be available for regular member usage during the event.  Please contact the golf shop if you would like to play that morning as we have a few tee times still available off of #10 tee.

Please sign up for the gross stroke play tournament that will determine champions for the gentlemen & ladies of Oxmoor CC contested next weekend.  Members may choose to play in either the open division (championship tees), men's division (royal tees) or the senior division (55 years old+) as well as the ladies division (played on Sat. & Sun.) when signing up to participate. The top 8 & ties in the open,men & senior division will qualify for the 3rd round contested on Sunday morning to have a 54-hole total champion from each respected division.  The entry fee is $25 per member, please contact the golf shop to sign up.
