OCC Golf - May 20

Practice Range Note:

The Greens & Grounds Committee has made the decision to improve the turf conditions on the the practice tee by overseeding the bermuda with rye.  As everyone knows, the practice tee has struggled with the past two winter temperatures & has not been able to recover.  We are going to begin to transition the turf to rye grass so that we can have growth earlier in the season & have the tee available for member use earlier in the golf season.  The practice tee will be closed for the next 3-4 weeks in order to give the seed the opportunity to germinate & we will have a daily water schedule in which the practice mat will be temporarily shut down for watering.  Please note the schedule below & I ask everyone to please stay off the grass as well as not to hit from the turf recently sodded directly in front of the mats.  Thank you for your cooperation.

OMGA Stableford Point Challenge

Members are encouraged to make their own pairings & starting times prior to 2:00 PM that day.  All participants must have at least 1 other OMGA member in their group for competition & all will play for points awarded for par, birdies, eagles & double eagles in both gross/net scores. 

Crystal Classic

$550 Per Team

The premier event of the golf season is quickly approaching & the field is limited to the first 36 teams who would like to participate.  The Classic will consist of a 45-hole competition with each team playing a 9-hole match against every team in their respective flight for a total of five matches. All matches will consist of a low ball/low total scoring with points awarded for each hole played & an additional 2 points awarded to the winning team of the respected match.  Please contact the Golf Shop if you would like to participate & challenge the Defending Championship Team of Scott Lusk & Johnny Deaton.

Junior Golf Note:

Information for the PGA Junior League has been sent & I would like to encourage all kids between the ages of 8-13 to come out this weekend if interested in participating on the team.  We will have 90 minute practice session both Saturday & Sunday at 3:00 PM so that we can evaluate each junior skill levels as well as play a few holes of golf.  Please contact the Golf Shop if you would like more information.

Beginning June 10th

11:15 AM -  12:30 PM ages 5-11

2:00 PM - 3:15 PM ages 12-15

$20 per clinic or $150 for the 8-week program
