Turkey Day Scramble 

Friday, Nov. 29th - 9:00 AM

We currently have 12 teams signed up to play & if you would like to get a team in, please do so before 4:00 PM.  The entry fee is $50 per member/$60 per guest & includes cart, tournament prizes & a great lunch provided by our Chef Jesse & will be contested REGARDLESS of the elements of the day.

I would like to congratulate my Senior Assistant Golf Professional, Jamie DeKeuster, for his achievement in becoming a Certified PGA Professional in the area of Golf Operations.  Jamie has been working on his certification over this past golf season, along with his daily responsibilities in serving the membership, & now has validated what many of us already have known; that he is an excellent PGA Professional.   Also, I would like to thank the membership for their support of the Assistant Educational Fundraiser helping my staff further advance their continuing education or gaining membership within the PGA of America. 

OCC Golf - Nov. 19th

Please Note:

1. Replace your divots. Repair your ball marks.  Rake bunkers when exiting.  Your help with making the golf course better for those playing behind you is greatly appreciated.

2. Please hit all irons off the mats, practicing iron shots off the grass in front of the mats is not permitted.  Also, please use consideration when hitting drivers to those who may be hitting irons off the mats.

Turkey Day Scramble

Friday, Nov. 29th

$50 per Member & $60 per Guest

The annual Thanksgiving Turkey Day Scramble is quickly approaching & if you have not signed your team up then you better do so now!  The format will consist of a four-person team scramble with each player having to have a selected drive on a par 3 & a par 5 as the ball in play.  Members are encouraged to make up their own teams, invite guest, & come out to the Club for some camaraderie amongst the golfing membership. The entry fee includes all tournament expense & prizes as well as donuts prior to play & a great lunch prepared by our Chef Jesse Hatchett after play is completed. Contact the golf shop to participate.

Holiday Bazaare

Sunday, Nov. 24th

1:00-4:00 PM

Get a jumpstart on your Christmas shopping this weekend at the Oxmoor CC Holiday Bazaare. There will be over 20 vendors as well as the OCC PGA Staff located in the Ballroom & everyone gets in free with a toy that will be donated to a local charity. The selection of items should be able to fir anyone on your shopping list & activities for juniors/adults are also scheduled for those who may be shopping with you.  We look forward to seeing everyone there!

Winter Ringer Challenge

$25 per member

Nov.1 - Feb. 28, 2014

Members who would like to participate in the Winter Ringer Challenge, please sign up in the golf shop. Those that are in the winterringer challenge will turn their scorecard in each time they play & the best scores of each hole will be counted for a best possible score ending in February.  The top 3 individuals with both gross & net scores (your season ending handicap will be used) will be issued sweeps for their finish on March 1st.

I just wanted to thank each of you for playing this weekend as well as for your support of the golf operations throughout the season.  Congratulations to Rick Fleischer for winning the event with a two-day total of 3 over par, 147, that featured a final round 72 playing in the last game of the day.  Rick's play over the weekend also earned him enough points to overtake Anthony Thornton as the 2013 OMGA Point Medalist of the Year!  Also, congratulations to Dennis Washburn who posted rounds of 80-80 to give him a net score of 69 both days for a total of 138 & successfully winning the net championship for the 2nd straight year.  Noted below is the leaderboard for gross & net scores as well as the sweeps money credited to member's accounts:

Attached to this email is the starting list for Saturday morning.  Due to the most likely chance of us having a frost delay, tee times will begin at 9:00 AM both days, & the range will be set on the mats in the morning.  New for this years point championship is an individual trophy to the overall point leader after completion of this tournament.  Participants will maintain their point standing going into the event & then be awarded points based off of net scores only on both Saturday & overall finish after two rounds.  We hope that this will increase the excitement of the two-day stroke play tournament!  Coffee & doughnuts will be available both days prior to play & make sure you dress warm!
